Teacher Workday Monday

Monday, January 26, is a teacher workday. Students do not come to school that day. Please have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
FAFSA Info Session

There will be FAFSA informational sessions at Stonewall Jackson High School Saturday, February 7, 9:00am-noon. Click here for more information.
Coat Drive

The Math Honor Society is sponsoring a coat drive! Please donate gently used coats starting Wednesday, January 21, through Friday, February 6. All sizes are welcome! There will be a donation bin in the office and in room 2020. The coats will be donated to local homeless shelters and organizations. The coats will go to people who cannot afford a warm jacket for this winter season.
Warning Flashers Time Change

On February 2 the time schedule for the school zone warning flashers in front of Patriot HS and T. Clay Woods ES will be changing. Please click here for the details.
Course Requests for 2015-2016

Scheduling for 2015-2016 is just around the corner! Teachers are currently making their course recommendations for their students. Students will be able to review those recommendations, and make additional course requests, through Parent Portal January 31 through February 5. Click here for directions on how to use Parent Portal to make those requests. In addition, the course catalog is available by clicking here.

Once the online course request window closes, counselors will be meeting with individual students to discuss their 2015-2016 schedules. Finally, here is a worksheet that will help students select their classes.
Governor's School Meeting (Innovation Park)

UPDATED - The Governor's School @ Innovation Park meeting will now be Wednesday, January 28, after school in room 1210 with Mrs. Stewart at 2:15pm. Final applications are due to Mrs. Stewart on February 5 at 2:00pm, 
Touch Base Program February 9

The Touch Base Program will be February 9, 7:30-9:30am. This event allows parents/guardians an opportunity to make quick contact with their child's teachers. Click here for more information.
BLAST Application Available

Applications for the summer Building Leaders for Advancing Science & Technology (BLAST) Program are now available. This is a wonderful opportunity, held on Virginia college campuses, for current 8th & 9th graders interested science & technology. Click here for more information.
Culinary 1 & 2 Applications Available

Students interested in applying for Patriot's Culinary 1 or Culinary 2 programs must complete the applications by March 31.

New AP Capstone Course at Patriot!

AP Capstone Seminar is a new course debuting at Patriot in 2015-16. The course is open to rising 11th graders currently interested in a challenging course focusing on the research process. Students will analyze and evaluate information in order to effectively communicate evidence-based arguments in both oral and written form.  Visit the AP Capstone Seminar site for more information.

 

UVa Society of Women Engineers

The Society of Women Engineers at the University of Virginia invites high school junior and sophomore girls to apply for a place in their High School Visitation Program taking place February 28. Click here for the flyer.
Inclement Weather Information

When there is inclement weather, safety is the first priority in weather-related decisions, after opening and closing decisions are made, they are targeted for announcement by 5:00am. There are a number of ways to receive these announcements. Click here for additional information.
Gifted Education Conference

The Center for Gifted Education's 2015 Focusing on the Future conference will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 8:45 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will expose high-ability learners in grades 6-12 to career opportunities related to the arts, humanities, and sciences Click here for more information and link.
AP Scholars & PLTW applications

The application for AP Scholars and Project Lead the Way is available for students zoned to attend Patriot. If you encounter a certificate error page, please click "Continue to this website." The site is secure. If you would like to apply to BOTH AP Scholars and PLTW, please select the appropriate option on the application's drop-down menu. If you are not zoned for Patriot you will not have the ability to select a Patriot Specialty Program as we are closed to transfer students for the 2015-16 school year.
